ALTR NATIV was born from a simple, yet profound belief – that something better could exist. It is a manifestation of my vision, guided by three core principles: People, Place, and Purpose. After years of navigating the hospitality industry, I felt a deep need to reshape what a stay could truly offer. I didn’t just want to open a hotel – I wanted to challenge what a hotel could be. To create a platform for change, a space where experience is shaped by design, community, and purpose.
What I envisioned was a high-design, concept-driven form of hospitality – creating the mood of a social lifestyle hotel: a design-led, experience-driven brand that merges creativity with comfort.
With every ALTR NATIV that comes to life, each space will be thoughtfully built from scratch, designed to reflect its own mood, rhythm, and sense of place. Every property will carry the same DNA of design, community, and storytelling, yet bring its own fresh concept and experience-driven approach to hospitality. A place that stands for authenticity, creativity, and a new way of experiencing what a hotel can be.
That’s how ALTR NATIV was born – in March 2024.
Design as the Core Language
Design has always been my first love. I enjoy creating things that are slightly offbeat, playing with color, texture, form, and feeling. I see design not as something visual, but as a complete sensory experience. For ALTR NATIV, I wanted every touchpoint – from the bedding to the playlist – to carry intention. Every decision, from layout to the smallest detail, was intentional – celebrating craftsmanship, color, and storytelling. I didn’t want to do things the traditional way. Instead, I restructured and reimagined every element – from the layout of rooms to the way we nurture community.
This journey has been a labor of love, driven by the belief that spaces should reflect the personalities of those who use them. The design celebrates –
A Space for the Subculture
ALTR NATIV was imagined as a haven for the subculture – for people who live consciously and creatively. The ones who find meaning in music, design, art, and connection. I wanted it to be a meeting point for travelers, locals, and creators – a place where boundaries blur between staying, working, creating, and living. It’s slowly evolving into a lifestyle brand that brings design, music, wellness, and community together under one umbrella. Whether through ALTR Objects, where we curate and create items that reflect our vibe through a collaborative approach,, or through ALTR XP, which brings people together for music, art, and wellness experiences – the brand is growing organically into something that feels deeply human and intentionally crafted.
Building the Right Energy
The biggest challenge was ALTR NATIV to attract the right kind of people – both guests and collaborators. I started inviting friends I admired from the creative world – artists, musicians, DJs, designers, entrepreneurs – to experience ALTR NATIV through sleepovers, residencies, and gatherings. These experiences shaped the tone of the brand and organically built a guest persona that truly reflected what ALTR stands for: a curious, conscious, design-aware traveler.
This collaborative initiative helped us reach the right audience – young adults and new-age travelers who connected with the energy of the space, its creative undercurrent, and its sense of belonging. This collaborative energy defined how the brand feels today – intimate, expressive, and effortlessly social.
Music as the Soul
Music runs through the veins of this place. Since day one, I wanted ALTR NATIV to have its own sonic identity – curated playlists that define the mood, rather than random background noise. We play music all day, every day – and we have a simple rule: guests can’t play their own. Because sound is part of the design language here. It’s the rhythm of the space. Hosting musicians and DJs from all around the world has become an essential part of ALTR NATIV’s story, and one day, I hope it evolves into something bigger – maybe even ALTR Radio – a place for artists to gather, collaborate, and be heard.
Designing Experience from the Inside Out
What I love most about ALTR NATIV is that every layer – from the physical design to the emotional one – has been intentionally crafted. For me, it’s not enough for a place to look beautiful; it should feel right.
That belief extends to how we run the hotel day-to-day. From setting up the tone of guest interactions to creating thoughtful staff training modules. I wanted everyone from the housekeeping team to the managers to embody the same warmth, attention, and sense of care. Every small detail, every process, contributes to the whole experience.
Designing ALTR NATIV has never been just about architecture or interiors – it’s about designing feelings.
The Kitchen – Heart of the Everyday
The ALTR Café has been imagined as the heart of the everyday experience at ALTR NATIV – a space that feels both social and soulful. Designing the café space and its menu was an incredibly collaborative process, and for me, it was as much a design exercise as it was a culinary one. Every element mattered from the way food is plated to the textures of the serveware and the shape of the glass in your hand. The goal was simple: to create something that felt considered in every sense.
We wanted the breakfast to be the highlight – something guests would remember. The menu celebrates both sweet and savoury comfort, combining freshness with indulgence. And as with everything at ALTR-NATIV, the food is ever-evolving. With each season we will be bringing new influences – locally sourced breads, Goan-inspired touchpoints, and collaborations with small producers and artisans. The kitchen is constantly reimagining itself, staying rooted in quality while exploring creativity.
Now, we’re working on the next layer – the cosy Bar. The idea is to create a small but beautifully curated cocktail menu that mirrors the same philosophy: intentional, crafted, and design-led. Stay tuned.
